Delhi HC Appoints Arbitrator in Yuvraj Singh's Dispute with Developer Over Privacy and Delivery Issues

The Delhi High Court has recently appointed Advocate Mukesh Gupta, a former Vice Chairman of the Central Administrative Tribunal, as the arbitrator to resolve a dispute between cricketer Yuvraj Singh and a real estate developer.

The case involves allegations of privacy rights violations related to Singh's endorsement of a real estate project and the developer's failure to deliver an apartment on time.

Justice C. Hari Shankar, who oversaw the appointment, instructed that the arbitration proceed under the rules of the Delhi International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) and emphasized that all issues of fact and law remain open for arbitration. The court had previously issued a notice to the developer, scheduling a hearing for August 5.

Singh’s counsel, Advocate Rizwan, argued that Singh’s promotional agreement with the developer expired on November 23 of the previous year, yet his image continued to be used in various promotional materials.

Singh claims this infringes upon his copyright, personality rights, and right to publicity. Additionally, Singh alleges that the developer breached the Agreement to Sale by failing to deliver the apartment on time, using inferior materials, and charging an inflated price.

Case Title: Yuvraj Singh Bundhel v M/S Brillient Etoile Private Limited
