Delhi Court Grants Permission to AAP's Sanjay Singh for Rajya Sabha Re-nomination Paperwork Signing Before Term's End

Sanjay Singh, an AAP MP, has been granted permission by a Delhi Court to authorize documents for his Rajya Sabha re-nomination, considering his current term's conclusion on January 27.

Sanjay Singh, a prominent figure within AAP, received the party's nomination as a Rajya Sabha MP before the expiration of his ongoing term.

Regarding this matter, an application was submitted to Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, seeking authorization to obtain signatures from Mr. Singh on an 'Undertaking.' This document is deemed necessary in acquiring a 'No Dues Certificate' for the applicant (Sanjay Singh) from the Rajya Sabha.

On Thursday, Mr. Singh took action by approaching the Delhi High Court to seek bail in connection with a money laundering case associated with the Delhi excise policy scam case.

On December 22 , the trial court rejected his bail plea stating, "The Court, on initial examination, finds the case against him to be substantial. Evidence indicates his connection to the alleged money laundering offense. There are credible grounds supporting the belief in his culpability concerning the alleged money laundering offense."

Special Judge M K Nagpal expressed his prima facie view and said, "The evidence and material show involvement of the applicant in the commission of the alleged offence of money laundering because he is shown to have been, directly or indirectly, involved in the process or activities connected with proceeds of crime generated through the scheduled offences case of CBI.

"The court further said, "The evidence and material is also sufficient to furnish this court reasonable grounds for believing that he is 'guilty' of the said offence in terms of provisions contained Under Section 45 of the PMLA. It can be said that the conditions laid down by section 45 for the grant of bail are not satisfied."

In denying the bail application, the court also referenced the Supreme Court's approval, affirming that bribes associated with the creation of the Delhi excise policy had indeed been paid.
