Central Government Notifies Appointment of Chief Justices to Eight High Courts

On September 21, the Central government announced the appointment of Chief Justices to eight High Courts.

Justice Manmohan, currently the acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, has been appointed as the regular Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher from the Delhi High Court will serve as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, while Justice Suresh Kait, also of the Delhi High Court, is appointed as Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Justice Indra Prasanna Mukerji from the Calcutta High Court will take charge as Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court,

Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar of the Bombay High Court has been named the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

Justice Tashi Rabstan, currently acting Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, has been appointed as its regular Chief Justice.

Additionally, Justice Shriram Kalpathi Rajendran from the Bombay High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court,

Justice MS Ramachandra Rao, presently Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, has been transferred to lead the Jharkhand High Court.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal shared the news through his official X (formerly Twitter) account. The Supreme Court Collegium initially made its recommendations on July 11, though revisions for four of the High Court appointments were made on September 17.
