The Calcutta High Court has constituted a three judges special bench to hear the petition filed by Justice Rajashekhar Mantha regarding an attempt by a group of Trinamool Congres Confident Lawyers resisted other advocates from entering his courtroom which continued for two days.
The commutation in front of the Courtroom of Justice Mantha was cleared on Wednesday after he issued a contempt of court rule and filed a suo-moto petition on the issue. A section of the government leaders and public prosecutor continued boycotting his courtroom.
Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court Prakash Srivastava constituted a special bench comprising of Justices TS Sivagnanam, Indra Prassana Mukerji, and Chittaranjan Das which would hear the case anytime in the week commencing from tomorrow.
The Bar Council of India has also decided a three-member team to Calcutta High Court to investigate the protest that took place on the first two days of the week. This team is comprised of Justice Ravindra Kumar Raijada, Allahabad High Court's Justice Ashok Mehta and Delhi High Court Bar Association's executive member Vandana Kaur Grover which will submit its report by 17th January, 2023.
