Ashneer Grover and Madhuri Jain Grover have taken their case to the Delhi High Court, contesting the Look Out Circulars (LOC) issued against them.
Today, Justice Subramonium Prasad presided over the matter and, considering the early stage of the investigation, deferred the case to May 8.
"It is too hot in the day for this Court to intervene now. Wait for some time" Justice Prasad remarked.
Additionally, the court observed that the Grovers' petition, which challenges the FIR filed by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), is currently awaiting resolution in the High Court. Justice Prasad, however, expressed that the Grovers' request to travel abroad for a two-day period could be reviewed by the relevant authorities.
Advocate Giriraj Subramanium, representing the Grovers, asserted that his clients have been cooperative during the investigation, highlighting the existence of several legal proceedings against them.
The Look Out Circulars (LOC) against the Grovers were initiated by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police. The EOW is actively investigating accusations of fraud brought forward by the fintech company BharatPe.
Ashneer Grover, the co-founder, and former Managing Director of BharatPe, along with Madhuri Jain Grover, who served as the company's head of operations, departed from the organization in early 2022. Subsequently, in December 2022, BharatPe filed a complaint against the couple. In response, in May 2023, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Ashneer Grover and Madhuri Jain Grover concerning allegations related to their tenure at BharatPe.
BharatPe has alleged a fraud of nearly ₹81 crores.
