On Thursday, (April 18), the Supreme Court directed the Election Commission of India to investigate an accusation regarding additional votes being registered in favor of the BJP during a mock poll conducted in Kerala using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
During the hearing of the EVM-VVPAT case, a bench consisting of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta verbally instructed the Election Commission of India to investigate the issue of additional votes being recorded for the BJP in Kerala during a mock poll using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the Association for Democratic Reforms, referred to a report from Malayala Manorama regarding complaints raised about the mock polls held on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the Kasargod constituency of Kerala. The report indicated that both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) lodged complaints with the District Collector, alleging that at least four EVMs inaccurately recorded additional votes in favor of the BJP.
"Mr. Singh, please look into this," Justice Khanna instructed Maninder Singh.
