SC takes historic stride in recognizing women advocates: 12 in 75 years 11 in one day

The Supreme Court of India, under the leadership of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, has designated 11 accomplished women lawyers as Senior Advocates. This decision marks a significant departure from the past, where only 12 women were granted this esteemed status over a span of 75 years.

The newly appointed Senior Advocates include Advocate-on-Record (AOR) Shobha Gupta, AOR Swarupama Chaturvedi, AOR Liz Mathew (Anthraper), Advocate Karuna Nundy, Advocate Nisha Bagchi, AOR Uttara Babbar, Advocate Haripriya Padmanabhan, AOR Archana Pathak Dave, Advocate NS Nappinai, AOR S Janani, and AOR Shirin Khajuria.

The Supreme Court's decision to promote these highly accomplished women to the prestigious position of Senior Advocates speaks volumes about their outstanding legal skills, commitment, and contributions to the field of law.
