SC Denies Bail to Former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in Rape Case

Today, the Supreme Court refused to grant bail to former JD(S) Member of Parliament (MP) Prajwal Revanna in connection with a case involving allegations of rape and sexual assault.

A Bench of Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma rejected the plea after a brief hearing. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Revanna, argued that while the allegations were serious, the complaint did not contain a specific accusation of rape.

"All that becomes better once I contest for MP," Rohatgi said, while referring to the Lok Sabha elections.

He further added that Revanna had lost the elections due to the ongoing case.

However, the Court declined to grant relief to the former Lok Sabha MP. When Rohatgi inquired if Revanna could reapply after six months, the Court responded, "We won't say anything."
