The Supreme Court Collegium on Friday proposed extending Justice Rajesh Sekhri's tenure by one year as an additional judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
The resolution published on the Supreme Court's official website indicated that the High Court's Collegium recommended Justice Rajesh Sekhri for a new term as an additional judge on April 23 this year, citing the lack of available vacancies for a permanent judge.
Following the Memorandum of Procedure, the Supreme Court Collegium consulted with its members who are knowledgeable about the affairs of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
A two-judge committee assessed Justice Sekhri's judgments as well-reasoned, noting that they included thorough analysis of case facts and were supported by appropriate case laws. After evaluating all relevant materials to determine his merit and suitability, the Collegium recommended him for a new term starting from July 29 this year.
