The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of five advocates as judges of the Calcutta High Court.

The decision was made during a collegium meeting on February 25.

The recommended advocates are:

• Smita Das De
• Reetobroto Kumar Mitra
• Md Talay Masood Siddiqui
• Krishnaraj Thaker
• Om Narayan Rai

As of February 1, the Calcutta High Court has 43 judges in position against a sanctioned strength of 72, leaving 29 vacancies.
