PM Modi Attends Ganpati Puja at Chief Justice DY Chandrachud's Residence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended Ganpati Puja at the residence of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud on Wednesday. CJI Chandrachud and his wife, Kalpana Das, hosted the Prime Minister for the occasion. During his visit, PM Modi actively participated in the puja.

Following the event, PM Modi took to X to share his reflections, writing, “May Bhagwan Shri Ganesh bless us all with happiness, prosperity, and wonderful health.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emphasized that the Prime Minister's visit was solely to partake in the Ganpati celebrations.

However, the visit has sparked concern among several senior advocates regarding the potential impact on the separation of powers between the judiciary and the executive. Senior advocate and former Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising voiced her criticism on social media, suggesting that the visit might undermine judicial independence. She has called on the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to address the issue, arguing that such public interactions risk blurring the lines between the judiciary and the executive.
