A PIL has been submitted to the Delhi High Court, urging the provision of suitable accommodations for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to effectively carry out his governmental duties while being held at Tihar Jail.
Shrikant Prasad has filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court, highlighting the need for adequate facilities to enable Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to fulfill his governmental responsibilities while in custody. Kejriwal has been held since March 21 following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in relation to the Delhi Excise Policy Case, and was subsequently placed in judicial custody on April 1.
Prasad has petitioned for directives ensuring that Arvind Kejriwal is furnished with the necessary arrangements for conducting video conferences with Delhi Assembly members and Cabinet Ministers, thereby ensuring the smooth operation of the Delhi government. He emphasized that the schemes implemented by the Delhi government have positively impacted the residents of Delhi, earning commendation from global media outlets and reputable institutions alike.
The petitioner has requested the court to issue orders preventing media channels from generating undue pressure and broadcasting sensational headlines concerning Arvind Kejriwal's resignation and the potential imposition of President's Rule in Delhi.
The plea urges measures to stop Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva from exerting undue pressure through protests or statements by illegal means, aimed at securing the resignation of the current Chief Minister of Delhi.
Earlier, three petitions were submitted to the Delhi High Court seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal from the position of Delhi Chief Minister.
