"Padho Bhai!" Remark Echoes as Top Court Dismisses Plea to Lower AIBE Cut-off

The Supreme Court dismissed a petition today that sought to reduce the cut-off score for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE).

A bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud observed that reducing the cut-off would compromise the caliber of lawyers admitted to the bar.

"They have put a cut off of 45 for the general category and 40 for SC/ST. What kind of lawyer will the person be if they cannot score this much? You are asking to lower it to 40 and 35!" CJI said.

"Padho bhai! (please study)," CJI told the petitioner in passing.

According to a recent RTI reply, over 50% of candidates did not pass the 2023 AIBE exam.
