P&H HC Issues Notice for Stay on 66-Feet Road Garbage Dump

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice of motion for a stay regarding the establishment of a garbage dump on 66-Feet Road within the city. Amit Taneja, president of the United Residents Forum, disclosed that the hearing took place today in the presence of the Chief Justice of the High Court.

“It is our first victory and we will fight till we get justice,” Taneja stated.

The members of the forum are determined to exhaust all possible avenues in their pursuit of their goal. They have resolved to approach both the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Human Rights Commission (HRC) to lodge complaints against the Municipal Corporation (MC).

"We refuse to allow the authorities to degrade our neighborhood in this manner. What significance does obtaining a RERA (Real Estate Regulatory Authority) certificate hold if they intend to establish garbage dumps? This concern was also highlighted during the court proceedings," remarked Taneja.

“Anmol Rattan Sidhu is our lawyer. He has served as an Advocate General of Punjab and is a former Assistant Solicitor General of India,” he added.

The members of the Forum have been actively protesting against the decision, asserting that it would have disastrous consequences, leading to the suffering of residents and making the area vulnerable to disease outbreaks. They lamented that this move would pose significant problems for everyone involved.

Recently, a protest march was also organised by members of the Forum in pursuit of their demands.
