Kerala HC Implements Machine Scrutiny for Writ Petitions Starting Today

The Kerala High Court has implemented Machine Scrutiny for writ petitions, excluding miscellaneous matters, starting November 1, 2024.

In July 2023, the Kerala High Court first implemented machine scrutiny for the automated review of bail applications, aimed at enhancing efficiency and expediting the e-filing process. Subsequently, in November 2023, machine scrutiny was extended to the examination of writ appeals.

It is important to note that if the Court Officer identifies any defects or procedural non-compliance following the machine scrutiny, they can address these issues by issuing a short order during the Court's proceedings to mark the non-compliance or defect before the registration and listing of writ petitions.

Machine scrutiny will minimize human intervention during the file review process, thereby decreasing the likelihood of errors.
