The Kerala High Court has granted former Senior Government Pleader P.G. Manu an extension of time to surrender in connection with an alleged sexual assault case concerning a female client. This extension was issued on Thursday.
Justice Gopinath P., presiding over a single judge bench, has granted P.G. Manu an additional 10 days to surrender to the police.
In the said matter, following accusations of raping a woman who sought legal advice from him, P.G. Manu resigned from his position as Senior Government Pleader. He contends that the prosecution's allegations are untrue, and he perceives the case registration as a 'calculated attempt' by his professional rivals to tarnish his reputation.
The court took note that the former senior government pleader has appealed to the Supreme Court after his plea for anticipatory bail was dismissed. He was instructed to surrender to the investigating officer within ten days of December 22, 2023.
Justice Gopinath emphatically stated that there will be no additional extension granted to him under any circumstances.
The plea has been moved through Advocates C.P. Udayabhanu, P Vijaya Bhanu, Navaneeth N. Nath, Rassal Janardhanan A., Abhishek M. Kunnathu, Boban Palat, P.U. Pratheesh Kumar, P.R. Ajay, K.U. Swapnil, Nikita Mendez and Sruthy Bhat.
