Kejriwal faces another setback: SC delays hearing until next week

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, finds himself embroiled in a complex legal battle following a series of setbacks within the past 24 hours. The challenges stem from a money laundering case associated with the notorious Delhi liquor scam.

In the latest blow the Supreme Court of India has declined to entertain his immediate appeal against the Delhi High Court's decision regarding his arrest and custody. This decision means that Kejriwal will have to wait until next week for a potential hearing.

Moreover, the court's decision not to convene a special bench for Kejriwal's case extinguished any hopes of an expedited resolution, pushing his legal battle into the realm of uncertainty.

This decision comes as the latest in a series of legal setbacks for Kejriwal within the past 24 hours. Earlier, on Tuesday, the Delhi High Court rejected Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest and custody in connection to the Delhi liquor scam money laundering case. The High Court's decision not only validated his detention but also dismissed his arguments against it.

Following this, on Wednesday, the Rouse Avenue Court rejected another petition from Kejriwal. This petition had sought permission for him to meet with his lawyers more frequently, requesting five meetings per week instead of the current allowance of two meetings per week.
