Justice Shamim Ahmed took the oath of office as a judge of the Madras High Court on Monday, increasing the court's total number of judges to 67.

The oath was administered by Chief Justice K R Shriram during a modest ceremony held at the High Court premises.

Justice Ahmed has been transferred from the Allahabad High Court to assume this new role.
