Justice PV Sanjay Kumar Recuses Himself from Manish Sisodia's Bail Plea in Delhi Excise Policy Case

Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the Supreme Court recused himself from presiding over the bail plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy case, which involves allegations of corruption and money laundering.

Consequently, the hearing scheduled for today was postponed.

The case, investigated by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), centers on accusations that Delhi government officials manipulated excise policies for personal gain, allegedly funding AAP's electoral activities in Goa through illicit means.

Sisodia, who has been in custody since February 26, 2023, has made multiple unsuccessful attempts to secure bail, with both the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court rejecting previous applications.

The Supreme Court recently declined to grant him bail in the money laundering case pending the ED's chargesheet submission, leaving open the possibility for future bail applications as the legal proceedings unfold
