Justice Dr. B.R. Sarangi of the Orissa High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
The appointment follows a recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on December 27 of the previous year. The development was confirmed by Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, on his X handle.
Justice Sarangi enrolled as a lawyer in 1985 and practiced before the Orissa High Court as well as the Supreme Court. He was appointed as a judge of the Orissa High Court on June 20, 2013.
According to the Orissa High Court's website, during his tenure as a judge, Justice Sarangi has disposed of more than 152,000 cases and delivered nearly 1,500 reported judgments.
