The Supreme Court of India has issued a recruitment notice on January 10, inviting online applications for the position of Law Clerk-Research Associate (LCRA). This is a short-term contractual assignment with a consolidated monthly remuneration of ₹80,000. The assignment will cover the term 2025-2026.
The Apex Court's Recruitment Cell issued the public advertisement " in terms of “Scheme of Engaging Law Clerk cum-Research Associates on Short-Term Contractual Assignment in the Supreme Court of India- January 2024” for preparation of a panel of approximately 90 candidates for engagement as Law Clerk-cum-Research Associates in the Supreme Court of India purely on contractual assignment initially on a consolidated remuneration of ₹80,000/- per month for the assignment term 2025-2026."
The age criteria for the post of LCRA require candidates to be between 20 and 32 years old as of February 7, 2025. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Law (including an Integrated Law Degree) from a Law School, College, or University recognized by the Bar Council of India. Final-year students of 5-year or 3-year law courses are also eligible to apply, provided they submit proof of obtaining the required law qualification.
The selection process for candidates will consist of three phases:
- Part I: A multiple-choice question-based test assessing the candidates' understanding and application of law, as well as their comprehension skills.
- Part II: A subjective written examination focused on evaluating writing and analytical abilities.
- Part III: An interview round.
Eligible candidates must apply online via the link provided on the Supreme Court's official website, www.sci.gov.in. Applications will only be accepted through the online registration process, which begins on January 14, 2025.
Candidates must pay an application/test fee of ₹500/-, plus applicable bank charges, exclusively through online mode. No other forms of payment will be accepted. Additionally, postal applications will not be entertained. The fee must be submitted via the Payment Gateway provided by UCO Bank.
The online application registration will begin on January 14, 2025, and the deadline for submission is February 7, 2025, at 23:55 hours.
The written examination for the position of Law Clerk-cum-Research Associate will be held on March 9, 2025.
The Model Answer Keys will be uploaded on the website at 12:00 noon on March 10, 2025, and will remain available until 11:59 p.m. on March 11, 2025. During this period, candidates can submit online objections, if any, regarding Part-I Multiple Choice Questions. A charge of ₹100/- per question will be applicable, which will be refunded if the objection is deemed valid.
