Justice DK Upadhyaya appointed as Chief Justice of Bombay High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium suggested Justice Upadhyaya be appointed Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on 5th July 2023.

This recommendation has now been approved by the Central Government. He would be the 47th Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.

The appointment of Chief Justices for the Kerala, Gujarat, Telangana, and Orissa High Courts was announced by the Centre on 19th July 2023.

Justice Upadhyaya, who was born on 16th June 1965. He graduated in law in 1991 from Lucknow University.

On 11th May 1991, then he was enrolled as an advocate.

Justice Upadhyaya practiced law at the Allahabad High Court's Lucknow Bench on both the civil and constitutional sides. On 21st November 2011, he was appointed to the Allahabad High Court as an Additional Judge, and on 06th August 2013, he was sworn in as a Permanent Judge. He served as Senior Judge for the Allahabad High Court's Lucknow Bench at the time.
