Uttar Pradesh government has decided to give pension, family pension and gratuity to judges and judicial officers on the basis of the recommendations made by the Second National Judicial Pay Commission (SNJPC) constituted under the chairmanship of Justice PV Reddy. Additional Chief Secretary Appointment Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi has issued this order.
Earlier, in May 19, the Supreme Court had also given orders to revise pension and family pension. On this basis the government issued an order.
According to the order, the pension of judges and judicial officers retiring on or after January 1, 2016, will be 50 percent of the last drawn at the time of retirement. The process of determining pension of retired judicial officers has also been decided. Pension revision will also be done on the basis of coefficient of 2.81.
Directly appointed Higher Judicial Service officers retiring before January 1, 2016, will be provided the benefit of maximum 10 years of practice at the Bar for pension. Family pension will be 30 percent of the last pay drawn at the time of retirement.
After the death of the spouse, family pension at the rate of 30 percent will be paid to the eligible members. Family pension will be determined in the same manner as pension is determined.
