Delhi HC Directs District Judges to Submit Reports on Functionality of Court Display Boards

The Delhi High Court has recently directed all district judges in the national capital to submit status reports on the functionality of display boards in the district courts of Delhi.

Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora have additionally requested responses from both the Delhi government and the Union government regarding this issue.

The Court was addressing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition filed by Mukul Sharma, which sought a directive for both the State and Union governments to ensure the functionality of display boards in the district courts of Delhi.

The display boards in courts are intended to showcase real-time information regarding ongoing case hearings within courtrooms. Mukul Sharma's plea highlighted that the non-operational display boards in Delhi courts were causing inconvenience to lawyers, litigants, and other court officials.

Therefore, the Court has issued notices and instructed all district judges in Delhi to submit status reports regarding the matter on the administrative side through the High Court's Registrar General within a period of four weeks.

The matter will be heard next on April 16.
