The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted bail on Monday to former Union Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his sons, Tejaswi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, in connection with the land-for-jobs case. The court imposed a bail bond condition of ₹1 lakh for each of the accused, with the next hearing scheduled for October 25.
Earlier, the court had ordered the trio to appear before it on October 7. In its preliminary observations, the court noted that Lalu Prasad Yadav was in a position of power to influence public employment during his tenure as Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009.
The case revolves around allegations that appointments made in the Railways were improperly exchanged for land transfers to Yadav's family during his ministerial tenure. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) contends that these appointments did not adhere to the hiring standards and guidelines set forth by the Indian Railways.
Notably, the Delhi court had previously granted bail in March 2023 to Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and daughter Misa Bharti in relation to the same case.
