Today, Chief Justice of India Dr. DY Chandrachud extended his congratulations to Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, who was elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association on the preceding day.

"Mr. Sibal, please accept our heartfelt congratulations on being elected as the President of the SCBA. We look forward towards your cooperation and the members of the executive committee," CJI told Sibal. 

The CJI made these remarks while presiding over a ceremonial bench convened for the farewell of Justice AS Bopanna.

In response, Sibal said, "It is my honour that after 22 years, I have been given this opportunity to serve the bar. From our side, you will have complete cooperation and that is our commitment to the bench. It is through this cooperation that we can take the agenda forward."

Yesterday's SCBA elections saw Sibal securing victory in the race for the President post with 1066 votes, surpassing the next contender, Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, who secured 689 votes. This marks Sibal's fourth win as President, with previous victories in 1995-96, 1997-98, and the most recent one twenty-three years ago in 2001.
