Centre Approves Appointment of Two Madras High Court Judges as Permanent

The Central government on Wednesday approved the elevation of two additional judges of the Madras High Court to permanent positions.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the decision on Twitter.

The judges appointed as permanent judges are:

  • Justice Venkatachari Lakshminarayanan
  • Justice Periyasamy Vadamala

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended their confirmation on February 5.

As of February 1, the Madras High Court operates with 65 judges against a sanctioned strength of 75, leaving 10 vacancies.
