Central Government Transfers Justice Shree Chandrashekhar from Jharkhand HC to Raj. HC

The Central government has announced the transfer of Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, who is currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, to the Rajasthan High Court.

This decision follows the Central government's notification of Justice BR Sarangi's appointment as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the transfer of Justice Chandrashekhar in response to his formal request for a transfer.

Justice Chandrashekhar completed his LLB in 1993 and was enrolled as an Advocate with the Delhi State Bar Council. He commenced his practice in Delhi, handling both Criminal and Civil cases. Over a span of 19 years practicing law, he handled approximately 3500 cases across various courts, with a majority of them in the Supreme Court of India. According to the official website of the Jharkhand High Court, he has been involved as counsel in around 140 reported judgments of the Supreme Court.

He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court on January 17, 2013, and later as a permanent Judge on June 27, 2014.

He assumed the role of Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court on December 29, 2023.
