Central Government Appoints New Permanent Judges to Delhi HC

The Central government has officially appointed Justices Girish Kathpalia, Manoj Jain, and Dharmesh Sharma as permanent judges of the Delhi High Court.

Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, announced the development on X.

They were initially appointed as additional judges of the Delhi High Court in May 2023. On July 9, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended their elevation to permanent judges.

The Collegium resolution had stated that the collegium of the High Court of Delhi had on March 12 unanimously recommended the appointment of the three judges as permanent.

With their appointment, the Delhi High Court will now have 37 permanent judges as against a sanctioned strength of 45 such judges.
