Jodhpur, September 18, 2024 – A fire broke out in Court No. 2 of the Rajasthan High Court earlier today, causing panic among those present in the building. The fire reportedly started early morning, with smoke quickly filling the courtroom.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. A detailed assessment of the damage is underway, and officials have assured that necessary steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
The court proceedings in the affected courtroom have been suspended. It is noteworthy that the new building of the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur was inaugurated on December 7, 2019. The inauguration was done by President Ram Nath Kovind. The new complex was built to accommodate the increasing demands of the judiciary and features modern infrastructure, including state-of-the-art courtrooms, facilities for lawyers and litigants, and upgraded security measures.
This new building was developed to ensure smoother functioning of judicial proceedings, given the rise in the number of cases being heard at the court.
