Andhra Pradesh HC Quashes Case Against Allu Arjun Over Poll Code Violation

On Wednesday, the Andhra Pradesh High Court quashed a police case filed against Telugu actor Allu Arjun for allegedly violating the model code of conduct during the general election.

The FIR stated that Arjun had visited the home of YSRCP leader Shilpa Ravi Chandra Kishore Reddy in Nandyala on May 11 without obtaining prior permission from the returning officer. His arrival reportedly caused a large public gathering, which led to the alleged breach of the model code of conduct, prompting Nandyala police to register the case, naming Arjun as A1 and Reddy as A2.

The FIR further claimed that Reddy, aware of the likelihood of a large crowd, failed to obtain the necessary permission for Arjun’s visit, thus violating electoral guidelines. In response, both Arjun and Reddy approached the High Court seeking the dismissal of the case, asserting that Arjun’s visit was personal and not politically motivated.

The duo argued they should not be held responsible for the crowd that gathered outside Reddy’s residence. After suspending proceedings in October, the court reviewed the case and, following deliberations, quashed the petition against both Arjun and Reddy.
