AAP ordered to vacate offices by June 15 on land designated for court use

In a significant development, the Supreme Court on Monday has directed the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to vacate its offices situated at Rouse Avenue in the capital city.

The court's decision came after noting that the land was originally allotted to the Delhi High Court for the expansion of judicial infrastructure.

A bench composed of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra has directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to approach the Land And Development Office (L&DO) for the allocation of suitable land for its offices.

The bench also urged the Land & Development Office (L&DO) to handle the application promptly and convey its decision within four weeks. It emphasized that the AAP does not currently possess any legal entitlement to retain occupancy of the allocated land.

The apex court has granted AAP time until June 15, 2024, to vacate the premises, marking a crucial deadline for the party to relocate its administrative operations. This decision holds significant implications for AAP, which has utilized the Rouse Avenue offices for its organizational activities.
