YSR Congress Leader YV Subba Reddy Approaches SC Over Alleged Animal Fat in Tirupati Laddu Prasadam Controversy

YSR Congress Party leader and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) chairperson, YV Subba Reddy, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the recent controversy surrounding the discovery of animal fat in the Laddu prasadam served at the revered Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh.

The issue has sparked outrage among devotees, leading Reddy to seek legal intervention to address the matter and safeguard the sanctity of the temple's offerings.

In a recent forensic report, it was revealed that animal fat was found in the ghee used to prepare laddus at the Tirupati temple, where Lord Venkateswara is worshipped. Following this, YV Subba Reddy, YSR Congress Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP, has approached the Supreme Court, seeking a court-monitored investigation or an independent inquiry led by a retired Supreme Court judge to examine the allegations.

Reddy's petition also requests directives for the Central and Andhra Pradesh governments, along with TTD and Andhra CM N Chandrababu Naidu, to refrain from publicizing the matter until the inquiry concludes, as it affects the sentiments of Lord Venkateswara's devotees.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy also moved the Supreme Court, demanding a court-supervised committee to probe the issue. Reddy’s plea was filed through advocate Baani Khanna, with the petition drawn by Advocate Palak Bishnoi.
