Six individuals, among them YouTuber Elvish Yadav, faced charges under the Wildlife (Protection) Act and Section 120A (pertaining to criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. They stand accused of purportedly supplying snake venom for a gathering in Noida's Sector 51, which turned out to be a sting operation conducted by Maneka Gandhi's organization, People for Animals.
The other five were arrested and Elvish's role in the rave party and in procuring snakes for such parties was being probed.
The results of the forensic investigation unveiled the utilization of venom extracted from cobra and krait species of snakes in the samples seized from the party.
People for Animals initiated a sting operation to expose the exploitation of rare animals and reached out to Elvish Yadav based on a tip-off suggesting his involvement in such activities. According to the complaint, Elvish assisted them by facilitating contacts who ultimately arranged for snake venom. Furthermore, Elvish was observed posing with snakes in his videos, implicating his potential association with the illegal trade.
Despite undergoing several rounds of questioning regarding the case, Elvish Yadav vehemently denied all allegations leveled against him. During the party, which was revealed to be a sting operation orchestrated by People for Animals, nine snakes were discovered, all of which had their venom glands surgically removed. Additionally, eight out of the nine snakes were found to have their teeth removed as well.
