Wild Elephant Causes Chaos at Haridwar Courthouse

The serenity of Uttarakhand's Haridwar district and sessions court was disrupted as a wild elephant forcefully charged through its gates, causing commotion and surprise among those present. The unexpected intrusion occurred in the Roshanabad area, catching everyone off guard.

Emerging from the adjacent Rajaji Tiger Reserve, the colossal creature, suspected to be a resident of the reserve, unleashed turmoil as it traversed through the district magistrate's office and the court grounds. Onlookers recounted how the elephant forcefully breached gates and inflicted damage to a wall, leaving a trail of unexpected destruction in its wake.

Videos of the incident, now viral on social media, show the elephant bringing down the main gate of the court before entering its premises and sauntering around.

Promptly alerted to the unusual scenario, the forest department swiftly mobilized upon learning of the elephant's presence. Officials promptly arrived at the scene, employing strategic measures to handle the situation, including using non-lethal methods such as firing warning shots into the air to deter the elephant. Their objective was to guide and steer the wandering creature back toward its habitat within the confines of the Rajaji Tiger Reserve.
