In a notification, the Nainital High Court in Uttarakhand has declared holidays on March 27 and 28. To compensate for these holidays, the High Court will remain operational on August 24 and September 21, both of which fall on Saturdays.
The decision has been taken following the direction of the Chief Justice of the High Court, The Registrar General issued a notification on Wednesday.
The decision comes in view of the Holi festival, which is celebrated in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand on March 26. In view of the difficulties faced by lawyers and others from remote areas in reaching the court following Holi celebrations, a delegation of the High Court Bar Association had earlier met the Chief Justice to discuss the matter.
Keeping their concerns in mind, the High Court has decided to adjust the court schedule, while ensuring accessibility and convenience for all stakeholders involved.
