U.S. Supreme Court keeps immigration Covid era limits in place indefinitely

The U.S. Supreme Court has kept the pandemic-era limits on immigration indefinitely fracturing the hope of thousands of people who were waiting for these limitations to come to an end by the end of this week.

In it Tuesday verdict, the US Supreme Court extended an ongoing stay that Chief Justice John Roberts issued last week. Now the case is listed in February when it will be argued. Until then the stay would be maintained.

The Limitations are referred to as Title 42 of the 1994 Public Health Law at the beginning of the pandemic. Under this restriction, the request for asylum was denied at the border on of preventing the spread of the virus.

It has been argued in the petitions that it goes against the American and International obligation to people fleeing to the US to escape persecution. It is further argued that the Coronavirus treatment has improved and the policy is not outdated.
