According to the National Legal Services Authority's schedule in New Delhi, the third National Lok Adalat of the year is scheduled to take place on September 14th.
Surabhi Prashar, chief judicial magistrate and secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Mohali, disclosed that following a meeting with representatives from revenue, communication, banks, municipal corporation, and water supply departments, they were instructed to pinpoint cases suitable for resolution in the upcoming National Lok Adalat. Emphasis was placed on submitting pre-litigation cases for settlement during the pre-litigation phase of the National Lok Adalat process.
During the National Lok Adalat, even pre-litigation cases can be addressed without the need to file a regular case or pay court fees. If parties reach a settlement during the Lok Adalat, any court fees paid in pending cases will be refunded.
The Lok Adalat will address a variety of cases including criminal compoundable offences, cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act (Section 138), bank recovery cases, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal cases, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, land acquisition cases, electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable theft cases), service matters concerning pay, allowances, and retirement benefits, revenue cases, and other civil cases such as rent disputes, easementary rights, injunction suits, and specific performance suits.
