Today, the Telangana High Court has taken a significant step towards transparency and accessibility in the judicial system by launching live-streaming of court proceedings for all 29 courtrooms.
Chief Justice Alok Aradhe officially inaugurated this feature on the High Court's website, and the live-streaming of court proceedings commenced at 10:30 AM.
Earlier, live streaming was only available for proceedings in courtroom 1 of the High Court. However, this new initiative allows anyone interested to watch proceedings in all courtrooms by accessing a link provided on the High Court's website.
This move follows the pioneering example set by the Gujarat High Court, which began live-streaming court proceedings on its YouTube channel in October 2020. Many other High Courts, including Karnataka, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta, and Chhattisgarh, took similar decisions in the interest of transparency and greater access to court hearings.
The High Courts of Kerala, Patna, and Jharkhand have previously uploaded live streams of court proceedings on their YouTube channels, although they might not be currently available for public live viewing on those platforms.
Furthermore, the Supreme Court has also initiated live-streaming, albeit in a limited capacity, with Constitution Bench hearings being made accessible on YouTube.
To watch the live-streaming of the Telangana High Court, you can find it on the High Court's official website.
