Telangana Court Grants Regular Bail to Actor Allu Arjun in Pushpa 2 Stampede Case

A trial court in Telangana on Friday granted regular bail to popular Telugu actor Allu Arjun in connection with the tragic stampede during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2 on December 4 in Hyderabad, which claimed the life of a woman.

The Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge at Nampally approved the bail on the condition that Arjun furnish a personal bond of ₹50,000 with two sureties.

The court also imposed additional conditions, requiring Arjun to appear before the station house officer at the Chikkadpally police station every Sunday between 10 AM and 1 PM for two months or until the filing of the chargesheet, whichever is earlier.

Further, the court directed Arjun to cooperate fully with the investigation, refrain from influencing witnesses, and not leave the country without prior court approval.

The actor had initially secured interim bail from the Telangana High Court on December 13, which was valid for four weeks. At the time, the High Court observed that Arjun could not be held prima facie responsible for the incident, as his attendance at the movie premiere had been pre-arranged with permission.

The case stems from a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the family of M Revathi, the woman who lost her life in the stampede at Sandhya Theatre. The FIR also lists charges under Sections 105 and 118(1) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), implicating Arjun, the theatre management, and others.

The tragic stampede occurred at around 9:30 PM during the premiere, also leaving Revathi’s 9-year-old son critically injured. Authorities claim the lack of advance notice about Arjun’s presence led to inadequate crowd control measures.

Arjun, who was present at the venue, was arrested on December 13 but secured interim bail the same day. He was released from custody on December 14. Regular bail for co-accused, including members of the theatre management, has also been granted.
