The incident took place in D-40 Kothi, Sector 30, Noida, where 61 year old Renu Sinha lived. Renu was a lawyer in the Supreme Court. On Sunday, her sister Mili told the police that her sister was not receiving the phone for the last two days.

The bench consisting of Justices J.K. Maheshwari and K.V. Viswanathan presided over a case involving the respondent, Jaswant Singh, who had been recruited as a constable within the Punjab Police. During his probationary period, he was discharged from his position by the Senior Superintendent of Police in Amritsar, based on the authority provided by Rule 12.21 of the Punjab Police Rules, 1934.

Supreme Court of India has emphatically upheld the principle that it is the solemn duty of the police to produce accused individuals before the trial court. The apex court, in its judgment on the bail application in the case of Satendra Babu vs. State of Uttar Pradesh, unequivocally stated that accused persons cannot be held responsible for the negligence of the police in this regard.

The Supreme Court has approved bail for Bachchu Yadav, who is alleged to be connected to a mining mafia and is considered a close associate of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. This decision comes in the context of a money laundering case, and it dismisses the Enforcement Directorate's claim that he received Rs 30 lakh as proceeds of illegal activities.

The Bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah today while allowing a petitioner to withdraw SLP passed an order permitting to choose to file a petition against the order passed by the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission before the Jurisdictional High Court or Delhi  High Court and left to the High court to pass an order on jurisdiction.

Supreme Court of India rejected a PIL challenging the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance 2023. Significantly, the ordinance is reported to transfer control over civil servants from the Delhi government to the Lieutenant Governor, often described as "wresting" authority.

 Supreme Court referred the petitions challenging the sedition law (Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code) to a bench of at least 5-judges.The bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, said that a reference to a larger bench was needed as the provision was upheld by a 5-judge bench in the 1962 judgment Kedar Nath Singh v. State of Bihar.

Supreme Court refused to entertain the bail plea of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu convicted in rape case of a minor girl back in 2013. The division bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti said that the accused can file a fresh plea before the Rajasthan High Court for suspension of sentence.

Supreme Courtcriticized the Registry for shifting the blame on Court Masters for not complying with the Court’s orders. The matter was heard before the division bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Pankaj Mithal.

Today, Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud recommended the names of seven additional judges of the Allahabad High Court and 11 judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court for appointment as permanent judges.
