Supreme Court Judges to Publicly Declare Assets in a Move Toward Transparency

In a significant move aimed at enhancing transparency and strengthening public trust in the judiciary, all Supreme Court judges have agreed to make their asset declarations publicly accessible.

During a full-court meeting on April 1, the judges resolved to disclose their assets to the Chief Justice of India, with plans to upload the details on the Supreme Court’s official website.

The decision comes amid controversy surrounding the alleged discovery of cash at the official premises of Justice Yashwant Varma during his tenure as a Delhi High Court judge.

While all Supreme Court judges have now submitted their asset declarations, these have yet to be made public. The specific framework for publishing the disclosures will be finalized in due course.
