The Supreme Court registry has issued a list of 300 oldest cases on 29.09.2022 for listing before the court in the week commencing after Dussehara Vacation i.e. 11th October, 2022 onwards. This list has been issued by the Registry out of the vision of the new Chief Justice of India UU Lalit for deciding the old matters first. Justice Lalit has expressed his intention of disposing of the old matter first while on the bench and outside.

The oldest matter on the list is a case pending since 1979 and then a case pending since 1985.
