The legal fraternity was shaken by the recent assault on Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia within the premises of a Noida court. Bhatia, a prominent figure in both legal and political circles as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, faced the harrowing experience while attending proceedings amidst a strike observed by lawyers.

According to reports, Bhatia, who had previously served as the Honorary Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), had his band snatched away by an unruly lawyer within the district court premises. The incident occurred despite Bhatia's cooperation in agreeing to adjourn the matter under discussion. In a scene witnessed by the District and Sessions Judge, the senior advocate became a victim of unprovoked aggression, which has deeply troubled the legal community.

In response to this reprehensible act, the SCBA swiftly moved to condemn the assault, asserting that such behavior not only violates professional ethics but also tarnishes the reputation of the entire legal fraternity. In a formal letter addressed to the local bar association, the SCBA expressed its strong condemnation of the incident and called for decisive action against the perpetrator.

"The Supreme Court Bar Association urges the Executive Committee of Janpad Dewani and Faujdari Bar Association Gautam Budh Nagar to identify the said lawyer, put him to notice, and take strict action against the concerned individual," the SCBA's statement read.
