On Friday, April 18, six judicial officers were officially sworn in as judges of the Allahabad High Court.
Chief Justice Arun Bhansali administered the oath of office in a ceremony held at the High Court.
The appointments of Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Anil Kumar-X, Sandeep Jain, Avnish Saxena, Madan Pal Singh, and Harvir Singh were notified by the Central Government on April 16.
These appointments were part of a set of eight names recommended earlier this month by the Supreme Court collegium for elevation to the High Court bench. The Centre approved six of those recommendations.
Following the swearing-in, the working strength of judges at the Allahabad High Court has increased to 87 (excluding the Chief Justice), though the court still functions below its sanctioned strength of 160 judges.
Earlier this month, Justices Yashwant Verma, Arindam Sinha, and Chandra Dhari Singh also took oath as judges of the Allahabad High Court after their transfers were approved by the Central Government.
