Shweta Tiwari Withdraws Petition to Quash Forgery Case After Police File A-Summary Report

Television actor Shweta Tiwari has withdrawn her petition from the Bombay High Court seeking to quash a forgery case against her. The decision came after the police submitted an A-summary report, indicating that the investigation was being closed due to insufficient evidence.

On December 18, the Bombay High Court Bench, comprising Justices Sarang Kotwal and Neela Gokhale, accepted the A-summary report filed by the Bandra-Kurla Complex Police and allowed Shweta Tiwari to withdraw her petition.

The case dates back to March 2021, when Tiwari’s ex-husband, Abhinav Kohli, accused her of forging his signature on a Non-Objection Certificate (NOC) in 2017 to secure a visa for their son’s travel to the UK. The visa was later canceled after Kohli informed the British consulate that he had never issued such an NOC. Following the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in the matter, Tiwari approached the High Court to quash the case against her.

In her petition, Shweta Tiwari argued that the FIR was filed in 2021, years after the alleged incident, implying that it stemmed from personal disputes between her and her ex-husband, Abhinav Kohli. She emphasized that they had traveled to the UK in 2018 with his consent for their son’s physiotherapy, during which Kohli had granted the Non-Objection Certificate (NOC).

Tiwari contended that the FIR was filed only after their relationship further deteriorated, with Kohli expressing concerns that she might attempt to take their son abroad again.

The Bandra-Kurla Complex Police recently filed an A-summary report, closing the case due to insufficient evidence. Tiwari and Kohli divorced in 2019 after she filed a domestic violence complaint against him.

Senior Advocate S. Purohit, along with advocates Chaval Patil, Sapna Sharma, instructed by K Ashar Co., represented Tiwari. Additional Public Prosecutor M.H. Mhatre appeared for the State.
