Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah and the main accused in the infamous BMW hit-and-run case, has approached the Bombay High Court seeking release from what he claims to be illegal detention.
The case will be heard by a division bench of Justices Bharathi Dangre and Manjusha Deshpande on Wednesday.
Mihir Shah was arrested on July 9, following the tragic incident on Annie Besant Road in Mumbai’s Worli area, where his speeding BMW allegedly struck a two-wheeler, killing 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa and seriously injuring her husband, Pradeep.
Shah is also accused of recklessly driving with Kaveri Nakhwa trapped under his car for over 1.5 kilometers towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The incident occurred after Shah had spent a night partying in Juhu before going for a long drive along Marine Drive.
While his father, Rajesh Shah, has been granted bail, Mihir remains in custody
