Senior Advocate KK Venugopal requested President of SCBA Adv. Vikas Singh not to allow the passing of resolutions against Senior Adv. Kapil Sibal and Neeraj Kishan Kaul.

Yesterday, Senior Advocate KK Venugopal wrote a letter to the President of Supreme Cout Bar A Adv. Vikas Singh not to allow the passing of resolutions against Senior Adv. Kapil Sibal and Adv. Neeraj Kishan Kaul.

The SCBA meeting held to be scheduled for tomorrow. The resolutions proposed against both the senior advocates for tendering an apology to the CJI DY Chandachud on behalf of the Bar Association for the outbursts made by Senior Advocate Vikas Singh while seeking urgent listing of a petition filed by the SCBA in relation to lawyers' chambers.

"I would therefore sincerely request you not to allow these two resolutions so that this event may not explode into a situation where there may be two camps with enmity between the members inter se, which may not be conducive to the peace and well-being of Supreme Court Bar Association," he said in his letter while mentioning that he has been a President of the SCBA on three occasions.

The two resolutions referred to in the AG's letter are :

  • Issue appropriate Show Cause Notice to the concerned members(Sibal & Kaul) as mentioned in the resolution demanding their explanation; and
  • Any mentioning done by a member of the Bar to belittle the stand taken by the SCBA in the Judicial proceeding should be highly condemned and in the future strict action be taken against such member.
