SCBA invites suggestions regarding irrelevant and unnecessary defects by SC registry

The Supreme Court Bar Association has invited suggestions from its members to put forward suggestions before the Supreme Court with regard to irrelevant and unnecessary put by the registry while checking the case at the time of filing cases.

As per the process, before listing of the cases before the Supreme Court, all the cases are grilles through a very strict filing process before the registry so that the file reached to the judges with no defects. This also causes a lot of trouble to the advocates during the registration process. The Supreme Court also organized a hackathon inviting suggestions from the SCBA members and SCAORA members and others.

The notice issued by Rohit Pandey, Hony Secretary, Supreme Court Bar Association reads as under:-

"As we know that listing a matter is a very lengthy process in the Supreme Court, moreover when the registry doesn't ignore the defects which are miscellaneous in nature and can be ignored for listing the urgent or non-urgent cases. We know these defects don't hold any relevance and are unnecessary in nature and it also results in humiliation of lawyers and litigants.

It has been noticed by the members of the Bar that the registry gives priority to the high profile matter involving big names of the country but at the same time matters of other members which are of similar legal nature are thrown in the pool of matters with defects.

Therefore, we invite your suggestions till 12:00 PM on 4th July 2023, pointing out the categories of defects which can be ignored by the registry while listing a matter of non-urgent/urgent nature. Members may email the same as per their experience and knowledge, on scbaecinfo@gmail.com they may also write to the other Members of the Executive Committee on their respective WhatsApp numbers. So that, we could strongly place it before  Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India and seek a possible solution and direction to the registry, to ignore all unnecessary and irrelevant defects, as soon as possible and save ourselves from humiliation."
