On Wednesday (March 13), the Supreme Court dismissed the curative petitions filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, seeking bail in the Delhi liquor policy scam case.
A bench consisting of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, and SVN Bhatti, dismissed the curative petitions, stating that they found no grounds to warrant further consideration of the case.
The curative pleas were filed seeking bail for Sisodia in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam, which involves charges filed against him by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
On October 30 of the previous year, a bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti had rejected Manish Sisodia's petitions seeking bail in the CBI and ED cases related to the Delhi liquor policy scam. Denying bail, the bench mentioned that Sisodia would have the right to apply for fresh bail if the trial did not progress within three months. Subsequently, on December 13, the same bench dismissed the review petitions as well. The curative petitions were filed against the dismissal of the review petition.
Recently, the trial court postponed the hearing of Sisodia's fresh bail applications, citing the pending curative petitions in the Supreme Court. On February 25, Sisodia marked one year of incarceration.
